Privacy Notice

Last updated: 9/6/2026

1. Who we are

Over the Line is operated by CL Cox, trading as Change Your Stars. CL Cox is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice and decides why and how it is processed. You can reach us through the contact details on our website.

2. We do not collect your content

All content you create in the app — answers, voice transcriptions, photos, destinations, and traveler names — is stored locally on your device in your browser's storage. It is never sent to us and we have no access to it.

3. Personal data we process, and why

  • Order and contact details (name, email, country, purchase record) — to provide your licence and support your purchase. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in customer service.
  • Technical and usage data (IP address, device and browser type, error reports, aggregate page views) — to keep the app secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Marketing emails, if you sign up — Legal basis: your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Records required by law (tax and accounting records of sales) — Legal basis: legal obligation.

4. Voice input and photos

Voice answers use your device's built-in speech recognition. Audio is handled by your device or its operating system speech service, not by us, and only the resulting text is saved on your device. Photos you add are resized and stored on your device and are never uploaded to us.

5. Who we share data with

  • Paddle.com — our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle conducts our order process and handles payments, subscription management, tax compliance, invoicing, returns, and customer service inquiries relating to orders. It receives your name, email, billing country, payment details, and order information, and processes them under Paddle's privacy policy. We never see or store your card details.
  • Service providers such as hosting, email delivery, error monitoring, and analytics providers, acting on our instructions.
  • Professional advisers (legal and accounting) where needed.
  • Authorities where we are required to disclose data by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Some of our providers, including Paddle, operate outside your country. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, transfers rely on an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate safeguards.

7. How long we keep data

Order and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires (typically six to seven years). Support messages are kept up to three years, and technical logs up to twelve months. After that, data is deleted or anonymised. Content stored on your device stays there until you delete it, clear your browser data, or remove the app — we cannot delete it for you.

8. Your rights

Subject to local law, you have the right to access your personal data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. You may also complain to your data protection supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise any right and we will respond within one month.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege access to the small amount of data we hold. Because your trip content never leaves your device, the safest protection for it is a device passcode and regular exports as backups.

10. Cookies and local storage

The app uses essential browser storage to remember your trip, your acceptance of our terms, and your purchase unlock. Our checkout provider sets cookies necessary to process payments and prevent fraud. If we add analytics or marketing cookies we will ask for your consent first, and you can manage or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.

11. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

12. Changes

We may update this notice. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised notice. See also our Terms of Use and Refund Policy.

This notice is provided as a starting point and is not a substitute for legal advice. Please have a lawyer review it before you begin charging users.
